How Upside Down Unicode Text Works
The Unicode standard includes many Latin letters and symbols that resemble upside-down versions of regular characters (for example, lowercase e becomes ǝ). This tool maps each character to its flipped counterpart and reverses the line so that when you rotate the text mentally or physically, it reads like your original message. Line breaks are preserved: multi-line notes flip one line at a time.
| Tip | Why it helps |
|---|---|
| Stick to letters and numbers | These map cleanly to upside-down Unicode in almost every font |
| Avoid rare emoji in the middle of words | Emoji may not have a flipped form and stay unchanged |
| Preview before posting | Some platforms use custom fonts that slightly change glyph shapes |
| Use short lines for riddles | Easier for friends to tilt their phone and read the joke |
Upside Down Text vs Mirrored Text
Mirrored text looks like writing seen in a mirror (often reversed left-to-right). Upside down text uses different Unicode glyphs so characters appear rotated 180°. This generator produces upside-down style output; if you need strict mirror reversal, try a reverse text tool instead.
